Sustainable Development of Performing Arts and Music Creation in the Belt and Road Initiative

As a composer, I can explore and express the relationship of the performing arts within the Belt and Road Initiative through musical works—a creative and unique approach. Today, with cultural confidence, I use an artist's personal creativity and unique perspective to explore how performing arts can generate new vitality and inspiration for development within the Belt and Road Initiative. Through musical works, we can showcase the diversity and beauty of cultures to the world, contributing to promoting mutual understanding and friendship among humanity.

This dissertation explores the important role and development trends of performing arts and musical composition within the Belt and Road Initiative. By analyzing their functions in promoting cultural exchange, enhancing friendship, driving economic development, and preserving national culture, it elucidates their significant contribution to the sustainable development of countries along the Belt and Road. Combining specific case studies and empirical research, the dissertation delves into the practices and innovations of performing arts and musical composition within the Belt and Road framework, proposing strategies and suggestions for promoting their sustainable development. Through this in-depth analysis of performing arts and musical composition, this dissertation aims to provide theoretical guidance and practical reference for cultural exchange and cooperation among countries along the Belt and Road, making a positive contribution to the Belt and Road Initiative.

Part OneMusical works created through cross-cultural collaboration

1. Integrating diverse cultural elements to reflect the cultural exchange and integration among countries along the Belt and Road Initiative. Showcasing the commonalities and unique charm of different cultures through diverse musical styles, instrumental techniques, and themes. Examples include Western classical music, folk music, Asian music, and African music. By blending these different musical elements, novel and uniquely captivating musical works are created.

Blending Eastern and Western musical elements: We can combine Western orchestral instruments with traditional Eastern instruments such as the erhu, guzheng, or pipa. By introducing Eastern instruments into Western orchestras, or Western instruments into Eastern orchestras, we can create ensemble effects that blend the characteristics of both Eastern and Western music.

Blending traditional folk music with modern pop music: We can combine traditional folk music elements with modern pop music styles, such as combining African percussion rhythms with pop music rhythms, or blending Indian Raga with modern electronic music, to create musical works with both traditional and modern characteristics.

Blending musical elements from different regions: We can choose to blend musical elements from different regions, such as combining South American salsa music with African reggae music, or combining traditional Asian musical elements with European classical musical elements, to create unique cross-cultural musical works.

Blending classical and modern musical elements: We can combine the melodies and harmonic structures of classical music with the rhythms and arrangement styles of modern music. For example, we can blend classical piano works with modern electronic music beats, or combine classical string works with modern rock guitar playing to create unique and modern musical works.

2. Combining Traditional and Modern Music: Creating musical works that blend traditional musical elements with modern styles, resulting in pieces that possess both contemporary appeal and traditional characteristics. For example, traditional instrument playing techniques can be used in conjunction with electronic music elements or modern arrangement methods, giving the music both the charm of traditional culture and the fashionable feel of modern music.
